State Scholarships

Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School accepts the following scholarships through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce: 

• Cleveland Scholarship
• EdChoice and EdChoice Expansion Scholarships
• Jon Peterson Scholarship
• Autism Scholarship

All families qualify for one of these scholarships depending on certain factors. 

VASJ will submit the application for you. You can drop off your completed application (Renewal or New) and all necessary documents (see below) for each student to Mrs. Jennifer Kintcher, Director of State Programs and Scholarships, at the school's front office during normal hours. Or you can email your SCANNED materials to [email protected]. PLEASE NOTE: Materials MUST be scanned. ODE will not accept photographs.

To ensure you receive the full amount of your scholarship from the state, VASJ must have all of your completed and accurate materials ASAP. 

Cleveland Scholarship

The Cleveland Scholarship is available for students who reside in the City of Cleveland and is $8,408. 

If you live in the City of Cleveland and do not currently receive the scholarship, we encourage you to apply by completing the NEW Cleveland Scholarship Application (see form below). Please make sure to provide a copy of your student’s birth certificate, copy of lease or mortgage statement, and two (2) copies of current utility bills (less than 90 days old) in your name as well as the completed application and submit it to: VASJ, Attn: Jennifer Kintcher.  

If you currently receive the Cleveland Scholarship, you must complete a RENEWAL (see application below) application along with two (2) current utility bills (less than 90 days old) and a copy of a lease or mortgage statement in your name. Submit all materials to: VASJ, Attn: Jennifer Kintcher.

Traditional EdChoice Scholarship

The Educational Choice Scholarship (EdChoice) Program provides students from designated public schools the opportunity to attend participating private schools. VASJ is a provider of the Education Choice Scholarship (EdChoice) Program. Students may be eligible for the EdChoice Scholarship of $8,408 per year. 

If you are applying for the Traditional EdChoice Scholarship (NEW) for the first time, please complete the application (see form below) and provide it along with your child’s birth certificate and two (2) proofs of residency less than 90 days old (see below for acceptable proof of residency). Submit all materials to: VASJ, Attn: Jennifer Kintcher.

If your student currently receives the EdChoice Scholarship through their elementary school, they are eligible to renew it at VASJ. Please complete the RENEWAL application (see form below) and submit it along with two (2) proofs of residency less than 90 days old (see below for acceptable proof of residency). Submit all materials to: VASJ, Attn: Jennifer Kintcher.

If you wish to be considered for low income, you must complete the income verification online through the Ohio Department of Education. Please see the Income Verification Quick Guide below for answers on how you can complete this. VASJ CANNOT DO THIS FOR YOU.

EdChoice Expansion Scholarship

All students in the state of Ohio qualify for the EdChoice Expansion state scholarship, regardless of income. The EdChoice Expansion Scholarship amount ranges from $840 to $8,408. Once the application is completed (see below for application), you must create an account with the Ohio Department of Education and verify your income. Please see the Income Verification Quick Guide below for answers on how you can complete this. VASJ CANNOT DO THIS FOR YOU.

Jon Peterson Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial assistance to students who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) from their district of residence. Please complete the Jon Peterson Application (see form below) and submit all materials to: VASJ, Attn: Jennifer Kintcher.

Autism Scholarship

This scholarship provides financial assistance to students who have a medical diagnosis of Autism and have an Individualized Education Program (IEP) from their district of residence. Please complete the Autism Scholarship Application (see form below) and submit all materials to: VASJ, Attn: Jennifer Kintcher.
