In his bio from his freshman year performance of Godspell, Josh Duke '13 expressed his hope to someday play the role of Aladdin before graduating from VASJ. With exactly one month remaining until graduation, his dream became a reality.
VASJ's drama club gave four wonderful performances of Disney's Aladdin Jr. in front of nearly 500 people, including a dress rehearsal for elementary schools SS. Robert and William and St. Jerome.
A lot of positive feedback was received after the performances and many stated it was one of the best performances they have seen at VASJ in quite some time. The credit goes to the hardworking cast and crew, including a group of seven seniors who have been involved in drama club for several years and wanted to make their last performance on the VASJ stage their best yet. And they did.
The students weren't the only ones who gave it their all on the stage, however. Principal David Csank, President Richard Osborne '69, math teacher Gary Minadeo '74 and teacher Chuck Martinko also made guest appearances during the show.
English teacher Mrs. Kristen Scharfeld, Director of Advancement, Mary Paxton, and Director of Communications, Emily Robinson, directed the show. After the final performance, the cast and crew presented the directors with special gifts: their own directors' chairs.
As is the case with most VASJ activities, the spring musical was clearly a labor of love for all those involved.
