Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School proudly inducted a new group of students into the National Honor Society on April 11.
After a brief introduction by NHS president Josephine Radachy and a prayer by NHS vice president Leah Davis, students lit candles in honor of the four pillars of the National Honor Society: Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Character. These pillars serve as guiding principles to help students unlock their full potential, embrace their educational journey, and empower them to make profound, enduring contributions to the world.
VASJ junior Max Gembus introduced this year's guest speaker, VASJ Director of Admissions Erin Kortovich '93. Prior to joining VASJ, Kortovich spent the past 15 years teaching Pre-K, including her last five years at All Saints School of St. John Vianney in Wickliffe. With a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, she previously worked in the corporate and nonprofit fitness industry.
Kortovich shared with our students how the pillars of the National Honor Society have stuck with her throughout her life and made an impact not only on her career but her personal life as well.
After inducting the new group of students, all members recited the National Honor Society pledge. The new inductees then presented family members with a rose as a way to say thank you and recognize all they have done for them in their lives.
