Thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors, Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School exceeded its goal of raising $35,000 during #weGiveCatholic on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
A total of 215 donors raised $38,505 during the annual day of giving, an all-time high for a #weGiveCatholic campaign at VASJ. Out of 33 medium-sized schools that participated in #weGiveCatholic, VASJ placed sixth on the leaderboard.
A majority of the money raised will go toward renovating four classrooms within the building, including patching and painting walls, performing general repairs, and upgrading technology. Additional funds will be designated toward tuition assistance for VASJ families.
New this year was an early giving window that allowed donors to make gifts ahead of Giving Tuesday. Donations received during early giving will help VASJ students cover the cost of attending an Ursuline Education Network High School Student Retreat in New Orleans in January and a Marianist retreat in Dayton in February.
"Thank you so much for your continued support of VASJ," said VASJ President Tom Carone. "Your generosity during #weGiveCatholic has inspired all of us to be better in our day-to-day responsibilities. On behalf of our students, faculty and staff, and administration, I thank you for making a difference for our school."
#weGiveCatholic is Northeast Ohio’s annual online day of Catholic giving, supporting Catholic schools, parishes, ministries and nonprofits throughout the region.
A special thank you to our donors who graciously stepped up to be matching gift sponsors for this year’s campaign, including the Villa Angela Academy Heritage Center Committee, the Oarsmen Club and the VASJ Board of Advisors. We’d also like to extend gratitude to the St. Joseph Class of 1970, who rallied together and raised funds to cover the cost of renovating one of the four classrooms.
Thank you to everyone who supported our campaign this year! It's inspiring to watch the Viking community come together to create positive change for our school and students.
