Rytas Petraitis is a 2010 graduate of VASJ. After high school, Rytas went on to attend Cleveland State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Prior to signing on as the interim Director of Athletics at VASJ this past winter, Rytas worked for two Fortune 500 companies, Sherwin-Williams and Nestle. He also invests his time volunteering at numerous nonprofits that support youth sports and community development.
Rytas’ passion for sports led him to establish a club volleyball team while at CSU, and he served as assistant varsity coach at VASJ for the state-qualifying years of 2013 and 2014. Still, Rytas’ greatest accomplishment is marrying his beautiful wife, Julie, and having two sons, Algis and Leo. Go Vikings!
Where did you grow up while attending VASJ?
I grew up conveniently a couple blocks away from VASJ. Never once tardy.
Where did you go to school before VASJ?
Grade school was Saint Christine, then finished at Holy Cross before attending VASJ.
Which teacher or class at VASJ do you remember most and why?
I have a mix of great memories from VASJ and numerous teachers who were very inspirational. It would be unfair to name off one over the other. The relationships created at VASJ are everlasting and the Viking Family always had and still has my back.
Did you have a favorite spot to hang out and what did you like about it?
I loved to watch a sunset over the lake in the Viking Village. It is one of the best experiences you can only have at VASJ. Besides that, as long as I was with friends, the location did not matter.
What, if anything, about your experience at VASJ would you do over?
Nothing. The experiences I had shaped me into who I am today and led me to where I am today.
