High school was a prominent theme throughout the night, highlighted as the birthplace of many journalism careers of those being honored. This is certainly the case for VASJ. It was noted that VASJ has three Hall of Fame members who also are Cleveland Journalism Hall of Fame members: John Sheridan '58 (IndustryWeek), Kelly O'Donnell '83 (NBC News), and the late Tom Brazaitis '58 (Plain Dealer).
At this year's ceremonies, Wayne Dawson (TV8) was honored with the Chuck Heaton public service award.
2014 Hall of Fame inductees were the late Constance Harper of the Call & Post, along with:
Wilma Smith (retired anchorwoman, Channel 5 and TV8)
Ed Byers (As Ed Richards, he was news director for John Lanigan, WGAR)
Paul Orlousky (TV reporter for Channels 3 & 5, and now Channel 19)
