Senior Rachel Smith signs letter of intent with Charleston Southern University

After playing volleyball in the Viking Village for four years, today VASJ senior Rachel Smith's hard work was rewarded when she signed her letter of intent with Charleston Southern University. 

Rachel is the complete package -- a great athlete, a tremendous student and a wonderful person.

As Coach Mark Royer '75 said, Rachel is a great example of what it means to be a Viking. She was always giving her teammates encouragement and showing them support. And after suffering an injury, she came back better than ever.

"That's the Viking inside of you," Coach Royer said. "Even when you're down you push harder."

Rachel's family, coaches, teammates, teachers and friends all gathered at VASJ for the official signing.
