Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School’s yearbook program has been named a 2017 Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence. The National Yearbook Program of Excellence recognizes just two schools in the entire state of Ohio with engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students develop 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies literacy.
The VASJ award winning yearbook program is led by Senior Clare Villegas and Junior Antonia Furlan under the direction of Mr. Gary Minadeo ’74, VASJ yearbook adviser.
“The simple mission of the Yearbook team is to reflect the inclusivity and family atmosphere of the Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School Marianist and Ursuline community while capturing memories that will last a lifetime,” Minadeo says. “This award announces ‘Job Well Done and Mission Accomplished’”.
Jostens’ National Yearbook Program of Excellence Awards are presented twice a year, in spring and in fall for yearbooks delivered during the school year. The Award was presented to the VASJ yearbook program for achieving the defined criteria in each of three following categories: creating an inclusive yearbook, generating school engagement, and successfully managing the yearbook creation process.
“Jostens is proud to recognize those individuals who have acted as wonderful stewards by creating an exceptional yearbook for their school and community,” said Chuck Mooty, Jostens president and CEO.
At the Baccalaureate Mass, the VASJ yearbook program was presented with a gem-studded recognition pin and a banner to display so the entire school community will be aware of the outstanding achievement.
“I'm very impressed with the work of our yearbook staff,” says VASJ Principal David Csank. “In the last couple of years, these young people have achieved so much. They not only created a yearbook for the class of 1990, who never had a yearbook, but also won this prestigious award. We were thrilled to present the award to them at the awards ceremony yesterday. The moderator, Gary Minadeo ’74 has done a great job with these students, and they all deserve to be commended."
