Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School is pleased to welcome Jeremiah Latimore as the new dean of students.
Latimore spent the last 10 years at ACCEL Schools in Cleveland, where he served as dean of students and assistant principal. He also has experience as a video technician, senior media specialist and drone pilot.
Latimore said he was looking for a change and a new challenge in his professional life, which drew him to the dean position here at VASJ.
"I wanted to go somewhere I could start over and implement my skills to establish a calm, controlled and flourishing culture while promoting school spirit," he said. "My first plan of action is to get to know all parents and students and establish a good working relationship built on trust and respect. People don't care what you know until they know that you care."
VASJ Principal Gregory K. Sedmak added, “Jeremiah brings 10 years of experience to VASJ in the dean of students role. His experience, along with his strong Christian faith and values, is a great benefit to our school.”
Latimore, who earned a bachelor's degree from The University of Akron, said he has been overjoyed by the welcome he's received from VASJ faculty, staff and students.
"The amount of support and willingness to make me as comfortable as possible tells me that VASJ's rich history and core values have not faded from the school but have transcended through the years and are now manifested within the students, staff and administration who currently inhabit these great walls," he said. "I pray that I can uphold this standard and honor our heavenly father in serving his people."
