Jason Hicks, former VASJ standout enters Walsh University Wall of Fame

Jason Hicks '01, former VASJ basketball standout, was one of seven inductees to enter Walsh University’s Wall of Fame, an honor designated for male and female athletes who have exhibited excellence to the University’s athletic program.

 
Jason Hicks '01 was inducted into the Walsh University Wall of Fame.

Hicks, a NAIA All-American, was the starting point guard who led the Walsh University Mens Basketball team to its first NAIA National Championship in 2005. The three-year starter averaged 10.8 PPG and 3.7 APG during his tenure at Walsh.

As a junior, Hicks received the prestigious Walsh University’s Male Athlete of the Year award for recording career highs when averaging 13.8 PPG in the regular season and 16.7 PPG in the NAIA tournament. He also was selected to the 2006 NAIA All-Tournament Team and received All Midwest Conference as well as NAIA All-American honors for his second consecutive year.

Hicks, a three-point specialist, shot 44% from the three-point line throughout his career at Walsh University and ranks second in the school’s history for three point attempts made.

Before college, Hicks attend Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School (VASJ) in Cleveland where he earned varsity letters in basketball and holds the school’s record for most three-point field goals made. From 1999-2001, Hicks led the Vikings to consecutive OHSAA Mens Basketball Division III regional finals appearances.

Upon graduating form Walsh University, Hicks played a season of professional basketball in Romania before returning to the United States to pursue a professional acting career. He currently lives in Seattle, WA. Hicks is the younger brother of Tony Miller '91, a former VASJ basketball champion who played professional basketball throughout Europe and held assistant coaching jobs at Univ of Southern Cal (USC) and California State University.
