VASJ’s annual Lenten Mission Collection has come to a close. Collectively, VASJ raised a total of $3,075.53 for Catholic Relief Services and CRS Operation Rice Bowl. The money was raised through rice bowls, cafeteria donations, homeroom collections, a change war, a Pi Day sale, and a tie sale.
Out of all the donations, the homerooms that raised the most money throughout Lent were Mrs. Marxen with $419.46, whose highest donor was Cha’Nyra Cooper ’20, and Miss Perusek with $329.93, whose top giver was Arianna Wallace ’21.
Other notable students in Miss Perusek’s homeroom were Paul Wise ’21, Tommy Wright ’21, Georgia Stzul ’21, and Janelle Walker ’21.
“They are an amazing and generous group of students,” says Marxen. “I’m very proud of them.”
The class who raised the most money was the sophomores, who raised over $800. VASJ’s faculty and staff raised almost $500.
All of the money raised during the LMC is being donated to Catholic Relief Services, a distinguished charity that doesn’t just hand out money but teaches those who are living in hardship to become self-sustaining so they can learn to better themselves and their communities.
