Each day during spirit week, VASJ students pay $1 to participate in the day’s dress-down theme. The money goes into their class accounts to cover the expenses of school dances and events. This year, two students decided to use it as an opportunity to do good.
Rather than pay $1 to participate in Friday’s spirit day, students were asked to bring in a can of food or non-perishable item instead.
“We were looking for a fun way to get the Viking Village involved in a service project,” says senior student council member Patrick Bradford.
Patrick, along with Anna Radachy ’19, pitched the idea to student council and it was approved. They collected over 300 food items and over $30 to donate to the Euclid Hunger Center.
“I thought it went really well and I was really proud of the results,” says Anna.
Nothing shows VASJ’s school spirit more than doing good for others.
