Four Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School students were named Faces of Our Founders award winners after being recognized by their peers.
Students were asked to vote for the student in their class whom they felt best embodies the characteristics of the school’s Marianist and Ursuline founders, Blessed William Joseph Chaminade and St. Angela Merici.
They were asked to consider the Ursuline values of compassion, contemplation, spirituality and service as well as the Marianist pillars of faith, community, mission, love of Mother Mary, inclusivity, and family spirit.
Congratulations to the following students:
Freshman Frankie Oriani
"He gets the vote because he is a student who exemplifies these traits. Very kind. Always super nice. He trusts in God. He is a respectful young man and a good person. He comes to school every day with a smile on his face and never fails to make me happy. He’s a good role model and he makes people laugh a lot. He would give his all to help his friends, family and classmates."
Sophomore Josephine Radachy
"Josie is a good person because she is always willing to help another student when they’re struggling with a concept. She also is a team player (in the classroom) and makes the environment in the classroom much better. She is a wonderful friend who is there for anyone who needs her. She supports others."
Junior Tiana Belcher
"Tiana is always open to giving a helping hand when it is needed. She can be seen always doing the right thing even when no one is around to see her doing it. Tiana is hardworking and respectful. She makes others feel good about themselves. She does a lot for VASJ and her community. Tiana stands for what she believes in. She is humble."
Senior Dylan Rhoad
"Dylan is very connected with his faith, and he’s always like a comforting ray of light when he’s around. He helps the Labre program at Ss. Robert and William every other Sunday with a group to feed those who are homeless. He is always looking for ways to help others. He is always spreading the word of God and making people’s days better. He is a genuinely good and honest person."
