A group of 20 VASJ students, as well as a few faculty members, traveled to Washington D.C. for the March for Life rally on January 27.
Since 2011, VASJ has gone to the March as guests on the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association bus.
“FCSLA pays for the buses, organizes the trip, provides food for us on the drive home, as well as scarves, hand warmers, and plenty of hospitality,” says VASJ’s Director of Campus Ministry, Jill Latkovich.
It’s a quick trip with a lot of travel time - leaving on Thursday night at 11:30 p.m. and returning at 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. But the experience makes it more than worth it.
“It was powerful to see so many people across generations and borders come together for the same purpose,” says VASJ religion and English teacher Brianna Wilson.
The experience is not only powerful, but uplifting, too.
“The atmosphere in D.C. today was joyful and hopeful,” Latkovich says. “The positive energy of the ‘pro-life generation’ is inspiring.”
