Today marks the 35th anniversary of the martyr of Sister Dorothy Kazel, Ursuline Sister of Cleveland who gave her life in the service of the Church and the people of El Salvador on December 2, 1980.
Sr. Dorothy faithfully and joyfully served the people of God in Cleveland and El Salvador. She was a teacher of Gospel values; witness to the good news of salvation; source of love and healing. She was a blessing to those who knew and loved her.
Let us take a moment to remember and honor not only Sr. Dorothy Kazel but also the other three martyrs which include lay missionary Jean Donovan of Cleveland and Srs. Maura Clarke and Ita Ford from New York.
“We are not able to participate fully, completely … We can only touch things in a hopeful way and in a loving way, and in this way bring Jesus Christ to the people.” - Sr. Dorothy Kazel
