VASJ, along with classmates and friends, will hold a prayer service for Jared Plesec '14 in the Founders Chapel on Friday, December 15, at 6 p.m.
Jared was a tireless volunteer during his time at VASJ. He truly loved giving service to the community and went above and beyond the school’s required hours of service.
It was his student-volunteer hours that led the school to create the Viking Service Award to recognize students for these efforts. Over the three years after his graduation, Jared worked for the Salvation Army Temple Corps Community Center in Collinwood serving as a youth mentor.
The night he was killed, Jared was leaving his apartment to work as a Salvation Army Red Kettle Worker. He died holding his Bible.
Hundreds of people gathered at the Salvation Army for a vigil and Cleveland City Council renamed a portion of Grovewood Avenue in Collinwood to “Jared Plesec Way” in honor of his service to the neighborhood.
