VASJ Names Kellie Mayle the Director of Advancement
CLEVELAND, OHIO ﹘ Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School President Bill Cervenik ’72 has named Kellie A. Mayle as the school’s new director of advancement.
With nearly 12 years of experience in alumni relations, Cervenik was instantly impressed with Mayle’s resume.
“It was clear that her experience is broad-based and includes fundraising, relationship-building, and the management and organizational skills needed to succeed,” Cervenik says.
After her interview, which Cervenik says felt more like a conversation, he was convinced Mayle was the right person for the job.
“It was clear Kellie had really great ideas about how she could best manage the Office of Advancement here at VASJ,” Cervenik says. “But even more apparent was her confidence in her ability to contribute to the success of the school.”
Cervenik also felt Mayle would contribute well to the school’s family environment.
“In speaking with one of Kellie's references, it was made clear that she understands the importance of teamwork and that she respects her coworkers and their responsibilities,” Cervenik says. “She is always willing to lend a hand, offer constructive advice, or provide her coworkers with words of encouragement.”
An alumna of Ursuline College for both her undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as having served as Alumnae Coordinator there for six years, Kellie is very familiar with the Ursuline family.
“Having worked at Ursuline College, she is certainly well-versed and dedicated to the Ursuline traditions and Core Values of Education,” says Cervenik.
It was the school’s Ursuline connection that drew Mayle to apply for the position.
“I was certainly familiar with the school through my affiliation with Ursuline College and the Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland,” Mayle says. “I was drawn to the position because of the overall mission of the school, which very much mirrors my experience as an alumna of Ursuline College.”
After her time at Ursuline College, Mayle went on to serve as the Assistant Director of Alumni Educational and Regional Programming at Kent State University. She then accepted a position as the Director of Alumni Relations for the Case Alumni Association, handling the annual fund for the Case School of Engineering at CWRU.
Mayle will start at VASJ on September 18 and is prepared to hit the ground running.
“My main goal will be to access what VASJ has in place currently and formulate a strategic plan for development and increasing overall support for the institution,” Mayle says. “I believe there is great potential at VASJ and I am excited about the opportunity to make an impact.”
