If you have visited vasj.com within the last 24 hours (we hope you check it often), you may have noticed it got a facelift. If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out today!
VASJ’s website was last updated in 2011 and although the previous site served the school well, an upgrade was needed.
The biggest limitation of the previous site was that it wasn’t mobile friendly. With so many people accessing website from handheld devices, this is an important component for ensuring that all users have a good viewing experience.
“The website is the school’s biggest admissions and marketing tool for reaching potential students and parents,” says VASJ Director of Admissions Kellie Watrobski ‘03. “So it’s really important that we make a good first impression with our website.”
The new website also includes social share options on each page, which will give visitors the ability to share news stories and articles through various social media channels.
“We hope this will increase readership of our news stories as well as increase traffic to our website,” says VASJ’s Director of Communications Emily Robinson. “We are doing really great things at VASJ so the more opportunities we have to get that message out to the public, the better.”
VASJ students were involved in the entire process of overhauling the website and the new site will allow them to continue that involvement.
Members of VASJ’s new Public Relations Club will have the opportunity to gain the valuable experience of updating and maintaining the website.
The Public Relations Club is new to VASJ this year and will provide students with the opportunity to assist with all aspects of marketing and branding the school.
“We have a lot of students interested in Public Relations, including writing and photography, so we decided to make it a club,” Robinson says. “The students are really excited about the club. I think it’s going to be really great.”
