Last year, VASJ began working with Mr. John Lecky, former Executive Director of The International Community Council of Cleveland, on a global initiative with our Student Ambassador Club called "Our World Today - Your World Tomorrow." The program is intended to increase harmony, equity and creativity among people of different nations, faiths and cultures by exposing our students to a variety of world cultures and people as an enhancement to our curriculum.

On Monday, September 10, VASJ had the honor of hosting Mr. Robert Roche, a member of the Apache Nation and Executive Director of the American Indian Education Center in Parma, as well as his colleague, Val Evans, Community Liaison for the center, for the Our World Today – Your World Tomorrow kick-off event.
The entire VASJ student body had the opportunity to hear presentations by Mr. Roche and Ms. Evans about Native American history and culture. In conjunction with the event, the social studies department tailored its curriculum to include Native American history so that students came to the presentations equipped with questions and an understanding of the history and culture.

This was the first of many scheduled events at VASJ as a part of the Our World Today – Your World Tomorrow initiative. The next event will take place on Thursday, October 11, with presentations about the European Union.
