VASJ Drama Club performs Beauty and the Beast

Congratulations to the cast and crew of VASJ's spring musical, Beauty and the Beast. They gave four outstanding performances April 24-26, including a dress rehearsal performed for elementary and middle school students on Friday.

The set, designed by junior Olivia Vidmar, was beautiful and the scene changes were frequent and complex -- evidence of a great tech crew. The costumes were elaborate and the acting superb. So much so, the youngsters in the audience were afraid of the beast (Terrell Johnson-Jones) and faculty and staff were impressed by the voice distortion techniques he used to alter his voice to take on this scary role.

Belle, played by junior Valentina Slechtivas, and Mrs. Potts, played by senior Diamond Wilson, impressed the audience with their beautiful solos. For Diamond and fellow seniors Paulina Gombita (Lefou), Taylor Sawicki (Babette), and Madison Vargo (Lumiere), it was their last time on stage in the Viking Village.

It was a wonderful production and a testament to the hard work of the cast, crew and directors.
