Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School is excited to announce the VASJ Hall of Fame Class of 2022 inductees. The VASJ Hall of Fame was established to honor alumni, faculty and staff members, and others associated with the Viking community who embody the mission and values of Villa Angela Academy, St. Joseph High School and Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School.
Inductees distinguish themselves through their contribution to their profession, the VASJ legacy and outstanding service to their community. These talented and extraordinary individuals serve as leaders among their peers and show our current students the possibilities that come from hard work, service and following one’s passion.
"I want to extend my sincere congratulations to this year’s class on their induction into the Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School Hall of Fame," said VASJ President Thomas M. Carone. "This is an incredible milestone, and the inductees deserve the spotlight to celebrate all they have done — and continue to do — for the Viking Village.”
The VASJ Hall of Fame Class of 2022 inductees are:
Dr. Daniel Dickriede '78: Dr. Daniel Dickriede lives out the charisms by making a difference not only in the local community but around the globe. An ER doctor, Daniel is also a member of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning humanitarian relief organization Doctors Without Borders. He has gone on numerous international aid trips, including to Afghanistan, Sudan, Zaire and more, helping people at clinics, orphanages and other places he visited along the way.
Kevin Flynt '70: Kevin Flynt has been a lifelong supporter of St. Joseph High School and VASJ. Dubbed "Commander Kev" by his classmates, he was instrumental in spearheading his 40th and 50th class reunions. He has championed numerous fundraisers for the school, including VASJ's recent Keeping Our Promises Campaign. Kevin, who previously worked in admissions, alumni relations and development at VASJ, continues to volunteer his time. He demonstrates what it means to be a true Viking leader.
Ann (Iffarth) Hirsch '64: Ann (Iffarth) Hirsch has been an integral part of Ladies Night Out since the very beginning. From helping with setup to organizing raffle prizes to handling name tags, Ann can always be counted on as a wonderful volunteer. A longtime supporter of the school, she selflessly gives of her time and talents to VASJ.
Thomas Kenny '72: As the former head freshman football coach and an assistant varsity football coach, Thomas “Red” Kenny played a significant role in molding young men at VASJ. A former teacher at St. Joseph Collinwood and Gesu Catholic School, Marlene has always had a passion for Catholic education. The Kuskins are dedicated to supporting VASJ students both on and off the field, whether they’re cheering on the Vikings at an athletic game or participating in major school fundraisers.
Bob Mullin '88: While Bob Mullin may be most well-known for his work with the VASJ wrestling program, his work behind the scenes is what sets him apart as a true Viking. Bob spent countless hours renovating the Tech Building and converting it into an athletic complex for our students. He has provided invaluable resources to help update various parts of the school building over the years. Beyond being a coach, Bob strives to instill the values of discipline, grace and hard work in his student-athletes.
Sr. Susan Zion, OSU '67: After serving as an elementary school teacher for over 20 years, Sr. Susan Zion found a new calling to help HIV/AIDS patients.
