Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School is proud to announce the VASJ Hall of Fame Class of 2020 inductees. The VASJ Hall of Fame was established to honor alumni, faculty and staff members, and others associated with the Viking community who embody the mission and values of Villa Angela Academy, St. Joseph High School and Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School.
"These inductees embody many different forms of personal and professional success," said Mike Tobin '91, chair of the VASJ Board of Advisors. "The commonality, of course, is their high school educations served as both a springboard and a grounding point in their lives, and they have worked to make our community — and our world — a better place."
The VASJ Hall of Fame Class of 2020 inductees are:
Susan Podboy Coan ’73: Susan Podboy Coan has devoted her life to ensuring students in Collinwood, East Cleveland and Euclid have access to quality, Catholic education. Under her leadership as principal of St. Jerome School for 10 years, the school has flourished in enrollment and remains the only Catholic grade school in Collinwood.
Neil McCormick ’70: Neil McCormick served as owner, producer, director and editor at Cinecraft Productions in Cleveland for more than 40 years. First discovering his love for film while a student at St. Joseph High School, Neil has volunteered his services to produce pieces that have been instrumental in sharing VASJ’s story with donors, prospective families and the greater community.
Kestutis (Kasey) ’76 & Judy (Rukstelis) ’78 Petraitis: Kasey and Judy Petraitis are embedded in the fabric of the VASJ soccer program. As a student at St. Joseph High School, Kasey played on the first soccer team in the school’s history. Decades later, he was named head coach, leading the boys soccer team to a North Coast Championship. Judy selflessly made sure young athletes had the opportunity to play the sport they loved, providing transportation and coaching for the Euclid Youth Soccer Organization. Judy has also served as guidance office manager and registrar at VASJ for 15 years.
William J. Raddell ’68: For nearly 50 years, William Raddell has remained an integral fixture of the St. Joseph High School and VASJ community. Generations of students have had the opportunity to explore and grow in their faith in the traditions of our Marianist founders thanks to Bill.
Anthony Redding ’89: As a humble and faithful servant of God, Anthony Redding has used his gifts to mentor, coach and teach the students of VASJ for two decades. Overcoming many difficult challenges as a young man, Anthony has dedicated his life to guiding our students on their own journeys by providing them with a positive mindset and the belief that all things are possible through God.
Jim Webb ’80: Jim Webb has coached and mentored VASJ athletes as a football coach for more than 30 years. Both on and off the field, Jim exemplifies the importance of a strong work ethic, teamwork and service. He has selflessly dedicated countless hours to ensuring the values and traditions of VASJ resound throughout the community.
"VASJ exists today because of each of our Hall of Fame inductees," said Cheryl Stashinko '03, associate director of alumni relations at VASJ. "Whether they have given back to their alma mater through teaching, coaching, mentoring, or supporting our mission, they have impacted our students in a profound way."
With respect to concerns of large gatherings due to COVID-19, this year the inductees will be honored with a special video. Tune in at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7 for the premiere of the video on the VASJ website and Facebook page. The video will remain posted on both platforms for viewing at a later time.
