Tim Misny ’73 will be returning to his alma mater, Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School, to address the newest inductees of the National Honor Society (NHS). While the purpose of his trip isn’t to “make them pay,” Misny does have high hopes for his visit and the words he plans to share with the 13 new NHS inductees.
The National Honor Society Induction Ceremony will take place in the Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School gym on Wednesday, March 28.
A member of the National Honor Society himself during both his junior and senior years of high school, Misny acknowledges the role his education and experiences at St. Joe’s played in his life. “This school really had a tremendous impact on me. I truly would not be where I am today without it,” he says.
And where he is today is a successful – and well-known – personal injury attorney based out of Kirtland, Ohio.
Misny, who graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1973, has degrees from John Carroll University and Cleveland Marshall College of Law. He was born and raised in Euclid and hasn’t left the area since. He now lives on a 55-acre estate in Waite Hill – also known as Misnyland - with his wife, Stephanie, and their two-year-old son, Max.Despite his enormous success in a 30-year career of practicing law, Misny hasn’t forgotten where he came from or what it took him to get here. “But for my experience at St. Joe's, I never would have realized the things I have in life,” says Misny. “And I'm not just talking about professional success. St. Joe's gave me respect for life and for all people, and gave me the desire to be a better person.”
In addition to NHS, Misny was also a class officer and a writer for the school paper The Norseman during his high school days at St. Joe’s.
“Tim embodies the Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School spirit,” says Richard Osborne ’69, VASJ president. “He was an outstanding student and, equally important, he retains a deep sense of the values he learned here. We’re looking forward to his insights into the true meaning of success.”
The reception on Wednesday will be held at 2 p.m. and is open to the public. A reception will be held in the Ministry Center immediately following the event.
