Longtime VASJ Girls Basketball Coach Anthony Redding ’89 resigns
CLEVELAND, OHIO – Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School Athletic Director Vance Marbury announced that after nearly two decades of coaching for the Vikings, Anthony Redding ’89 has announced his resignation as Head Girls Basketball Coach.
“Coach Redding has been a great role model for our Lady Viking athletes and an important part of the school’s athletic program,” Marbury says. “We don’t want to see him move on from the program but respect his choice that it’s time.”
Daniel Smith, a 2006 graduate of the school, who has been serving on the team’s coaching staff, will be stepping in as Interim Head Coach, Marbury announced.
Smith, who played basketball during his time at VASJ, is eager to serve his alma mater in this role.
“In all of my communications with Smith, it’s clear he has a love of the game and a love of the school,” Marbury says. “The shoes will be hard to fill but our team will be in good hands with him.”
