Dear Villa Angela-St. Joseph family,
There are just a few days remaining to make a donation in support of VASJ's 2015-16 Merici-Chaminade Fund.
The saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. We believe it also takes a village to guide students through their four years of high school and to get them prepared for graduation, college, and life in the real world. Thankfully, our students have the members of the Viking Village to lead them through it.
During her speech at commencement, Angelina Goosby thanked all of the members of the Viking Village who guided and supported the Class of 2016 along the way.
"Every problem I've overcome and everything I have accomplished has been because of someone in this room today who has been there to guide me," she said. "We worked hard to get to this point but we didn't do it by ourselves. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the following people..."
She went on to thank the teachers, parents, family members, coaches, club advisors, principal, president, office staff, and guidance staff for all of their support. "Without your help, some of us might not be graduating today. The best way we graduates can show our gratitude is to make the most of the opportunity we've been given and remember, 'Once a Viking, always a Viking.'"
We hear similar sentiments from alums, old and new, who express their desire to support their alma mater as a way to say "thank you" for the opportunities they have received as a result of the lessons and teachings from their time at VASJ (and St. Joseph High School and Villa Angela Academy).
If you, like Angelina, are grateful for the high school education you received and would like to help us continue this great work for generations to come, consider making a donation toward our 2015-16 Merici-Chaminade Fund.
Thank you for being a special part of the Viking Village.
The VASJ family
