Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School is excited to announce that Jeff Teringo has joined the Viking Village as athletic director.
Teringo spent the last three years serving as athletic director at Benedictine High School in Cleveland.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to help lead the student-athletes here at VASJ,” Teringo said.
Prior to Benedictine, Teringo worked as an assistant principal at Wadsworth High School. He also served as athletic director and unit principal at Mentor High School. In addition, Teringo spent 17 years coaching football and wrestling at Mayfield and Mentor schools.
“I’m drawn to witnessing the growth of young student-athletes in the classroom and on the field,” he said. “I have a passion for athletics and being around athletics. I’ve been involved my entire career.”
Geneo Oberst, who has served as interim athletic director over the course of this year, will continue to work in the VASJ athletic department as assistant athletic director.
Mikayla Menn will resume her role as athletic trainer at VASJ as part of the University Hospitals Sports Medicine program.
A graduate of Brush High School, Teringo played football and wrestled at Ashland University, earning a bachelor’s degree in business education and computer science in 1980. He went on to receive a master’s degree in educational leadership from Cleveland State University in 1990.
Teringo and his wife, Suzanne, live in Mentor. The couple has two daughters and two granddaughters.
