VASJ's GEM Club hosted a mental health and yoga session for students in March. Students learned about self-care and ways in which they can improve their mental health, including yoga, exercise, meditation, regulated breathing exercises, pet therapy and more.
GEM Club welcomed two guest speakers, Kristin DuPrey of the Sabrina Noelle Foundation and Casey Martin from the Seed Yoga organization.
The Sabrina Noelle Foundation's mission is to promote and provide activities that aim to address mental well-being for young people. The foundation's goal is to create conversations and activities where mental enrichment is thoroughly integrated into everyday life. The foundation has offered VASJ students service opportunities, including jewelry making and other crafts. The Sabrina Noelle Foundation proceeds go toward scholarships, gym rentals, trainers, art supplies and events. More information can be found at sabrinanoelle.org.
Seed Yoga organization's mission is to spread joy, inner peace and love to all by guiding the practices of yoga, breathwork and meditation. They provide free yoga to schools as well as caregivers of families with special needs. They also collaborate with mental health partners to bring free yoga to those it would support most. The practice of yoga benefits more than just the self! It disperses through the family and community to benefit everyone. More information can be found at seedyogaohio.org.
GEM (Girls Empowerment Meetings) is a club geared toward female students who are seeking a safe space to share and discuss unique experiences. The club's goal is to shed a positive light on what it means to be a happy, healthy and strong female. VASJ is excited and looking forward to working with both organizations in the future.
Thank you to Kristin, Casey, Ms. Marx and Ms. Jones who helped coordinate the self-care session!
