Rhiannan Edwards ‘20 has had a love for art for as long as she can remember.
“It's a skill of creativity and imagination,” Rhiannan says. “You find more about yourself as you draw your thoughts onto paper. As you do more, you get better and understand certain techniques.”
Her favorite medium is watercolor but she is also great with pencil (her pencil sketch of an angel was selected for use on VASJ’s Christmas card this year) and acrylic.
This year she decided to try a new form of art: upcycling. She started making duffel and tote bags from her family’s old sailboat sail.
“At first it was just a project to make for a Christmas gift,” Rhiannan says.
But then she decided to take her art to a craft show and started sewing more bags to sell there.
On April 1, Rhiannan’s art and crafts, including some of her upcycled sail totes and duffel bags, will be featured at the Willoughby Hills Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (admission is free).
