The VASJ Club Fair is a yearly event where students come to the gym during their Religion periods to see all the clubs that the school has to offer.
This year, 22 different clubs participated from Color Guard to the Ventures literary magazine, most of which were student made. VASJ clubs gained nearly 800 new members at today’s club fair. That means that each student joined around two or three clubs.
The club fair allows for both the student body to learn about the clubs and for the clubs to increase their membership.
"When we do this, the club membership goes up and then the school community grows stronger," says VASJ teacher Mrs. Grai, who also serves as moderator of the school’s Student Council and coordinated the fair. “Club membership at least doubles as a result.”
Mrs. Grai and Student Council are in charge of making sure the whole day runs smoothly. Each club has a table and one or two students representing the club. Each club is given an opportunity to address the students and explain what their club is about.
VASJ’s club fair allows for the community atmosphere at VASJ to grow stronger through the intermingling of students from every grade. The club fair helps us to live by St. Angela Merici’s advice of, “Building communities wherever you go.” This is the command we follow at VASJ.
