With much greatness comes hard work as well. What distinguishes her from many is her amazing work ethic.
“I work 13 to 17 hour days every day," Dvorak says.
Being a part of this career is quite risky and can even be inconsistent. You can go months without working. The job can be mentally and physically exhausting at times. As an Assistant Director, Dvorak always has to focus on the next step and think of the logistics of the show. In regards to The Walking Dead, it is the most challenging job she has faced in her career.
“In addition to the long hours and the hour drive to and from work, we are outside battling the elements,” Dvorak says. “We shoot in the hottest months in the south, in the woods, and in the toughest locations imaginable.”
Through the hard adversities she faces, Dvorak still remains committed to working around the clock to produce the best work possible.
Through all of her amazing accomplishments, she still relates to the people back here in Cleveland, Ohio. During her time at VASJ, she was the varsity soccer goalkeeper, on the softball team, Ski Club, and was a part of the tech crew for Drama Club. She remains close with a great group of friends she met on tech crew during her junior year and talks to them all the time.
Her main advice to people interested in pursuing a similar career in the entertainment industry is to hustle, work hard, and have a positive attitude.
“Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard,” Dvorak says. “Making connections and getting on set are more important than just being talented.”
Though she has achieved much, she still has bigger plans for the future. Her main goal is directing. She plans to shoot and direct her own film this year. She recently wrapped up Season 8 of The Walking Dead and is now focusing on her personal work before the next season starts. She recently joined the Directors Guild of America and continues to have an awesome future ahead.
Many VASJ alumni have achieved numerous successes, and I believe that it’s only right if I shed a light on it.
So when you get some time, if you haven’t already, watch the shows and movies listed above to support a fellow Viking. While watching, remember that a part of VASJ lives in those shows and films thanks to Brittney Dvorak, which is truly amazing.
I have a similar career interest as Brittney, and she continues to inspire me to work hard and become the best I can be. I know that anything is possible. With hard work, you can make any dream, no matter how big, a reality.
