After graduating from VASJ, Alison Sukys ’15 attended The Ohio State University and obtained a bachelor’s degree in public management, leadership and policy. After a number of different internships (including one for a U.S. Senator), Alison decided to become a social studies teacher and share her passion for history with a new generation of students. She completed her master’s degree in education at Cleveland State University, graduating this past May. Alison currently works at Beaumont School in Cleveland Heights, teaching government and politics to the sophomore class. Alison will be getting married this summer to a former VASJ student, Josh Roach!
Where did you grow up while attending VASJ?
I grew up in Euclid while attending VASJ.
Where did you go to school before VASJ?
Before I went to VASJ, I was a student at Our Lady of the Lake (Holy Cross).
Which teacher or class at VASJ do you remember most and why?
My absolute favorite class at VASJ was “20th Century America Through Film” with Ms. Joseph. I remember that class very vividly and learned so much. It’s what helped spark my passion for teaching (though I did not know it then)!
Did you have a favorite spot to hang out and what did you like about it?
I always hung out by the track or near my parking spot outside. I loved the track because I was a runner, and I was always near my car because I drove all of my friends around!
What, if anything, about your experience at VASJ would you do over?Absolutely nothing. I had a great experience and really enjoyed my time at VASJ!
